Although it’s been out for a minute, I thought Friday the 13th would be an appropriate day to tell you to go cop Issue 13 of Faesthetic. They also have a deal right now where you can get the last 7 issues for $26 – if you have been sleeping this is your lucky day…

I just stumbled onto the Fifty & Fifty Project which asked designers (one per state) to illustrate their state motto. I immediately went to find the North Carolina state motto which was crafted by Matt Stevens who is based here in Charlotte. A very cool curated project with some great work to browse through!
On a side note, I’ve always appreciated the fact that Josh & the guys over at Black Sheep rock the latin phrase of the motto on alot of their graphics “Esse quam videri”.

After posting about local madman Spaceknuckle I see a KDU release by another talented local Zack Shuta. I’ve always been a fan of Zack’s solid style, and he kills this other series for the solstice collection. Check series here & a slick animated version here…
I can only hope, my buddy Brandon Oxendine had something to do with the design of this site. But I implore all of you out there to go and enter this contest. The premise is to make a logo for a false company. The twist is that the contest winner will be the one person that designs the worst logo imaginable. Judged by some prominent Designers and illustrators, this fierce and absurd competition has a pretty awesome grand prize including a subscription to both Print and How magazines, as well as 50 letter pressed business cards via Copper Dog Press. Please check out the website for more details. Also, check back to see what people creating and how the logos look. More here.
